Introduction
Do you often feel sore and tight shoulders and neck from sitting in front of a computer every day? Don't worry, you don't need to go through a lot of trouble. A simple chair can help you relax. Today, I share a gentle shoulder and neck exercise - the Chair Cat-Cow Pose. It comes from chair yoga, is simple and safe, suitable for people of all ages. Combined with the traditional Chinese health practice of "activating the meridians and promoting blood circulation," it allows your body to gradually stretch in a balanced state of movement and stillness.
Technique Details: Chair Cat-Cow Pose
Applicable Physical Issues

Feeling stiff neck and heavy shoulders in the morning or after work, even experiencing back pain when bending down. This exercise can relieve tension in the shoulders, neck, and upper back, and improve hunchback and forward head posture.
Exercise Steps (Complete Instructions)
- Preparation: Sit on the front part of the chair, feet flat on the floor, shoulder-width apart. Gently place your hands on your knees.
- Cat Pose (Bending Forward): Inhale, slowly lower your head, bringing your chin towards your chest. At the same time, arch your back backward, like a cat stretching. You can gently push your knees with your hands to help lift your back. Hold for 3 seconds, feeling the stretch on the back of your neck and shoulder blades.
- Cow Pose (Lifting Head and Chest): Exhale, slowly lift your head, tilting your chin upward. At the same time, lift your chest, allowing your back to slightly dip inward. Move your hands along the front of your thighs to help open your chest. Hold for 3 seconds, feeling the stretch in your chest and front of your neck.
- Repetition: Repeat the Cat and Cow poses, coordinating with your breathing, for a total of 5 to 10 times. The movements should be slow, like flowing water. After finishing, you will feel much lighter in your shoulders and neck.
Physical Benefits

This exercise gently moves the entire spine, especially the neck and upper back. It helps unblock meridians and promote blood circulation, restoring elasticity to stiff muscles. With consistent practice, it can also make your sitting posture more upright and reduce fatigue. Remember, apply gentle force, avoid forcing your body, and let your body breathe naturally.
Summary

The Chair Cat-Cow Pose requires no special location or effort, and you can give your shoulders and neck a gentle relaxation by spending just a few minutes each day. As the traditional Chinese medicine says, "follow nature and maintain balance between movement and stillness." A small action can bring great comfort. Try it out, and your body will thank you.
