Secrets to a Fresher Body

Do you often feel heavy in your body, have oily skin, a sticky mouth, and not very smooth bowel movements? These might all be caused by damp-heat. Don't worry, today I'm sharing a super gentle and side-effect-free little trick — a simple cup of tangerine peel, porcine polypore, and coix seed water, which helps gradually eliminate those uncomfortable "dampness" and "heat." No need to fast or suffer; it's as comfortable as drinking a warm herbal tea.

Why can this tea help you?

Our body is like a garden, and damp-heat is like extra weeds and polluted air. Tangerine peel helps unblock the flow of qi, making the liver work more smoothly (called "soothing the liver and regulating qi" in traditional Chinese medicine); porcine polypore helps clean the intestines, making the inside of the body cleaner (known as "clearing the bowels and purifying the turbid"); and coix seed acts like a small broom, driving out excess moisture and heat from the kidneys and skin (called "removing dampness and reducing heat"). Together, they are like a gentle cleaning for the body, without harming the vital energy, just removing the burden.

What do you need to prepare?

  • Ingredients: A small piece of dried tangerine peel (never use fresh orange peel), a small handful of porcine polypore (about 10 grams), and one spoonful of raw coix seed (about 15 grams). If you're worried that coix seed is too cold, you can stir-fry it in a dry pan until slightly yellow, making it milder.
  • Tools: A regular small pot or thermos.

How to brew and drink?

  • Step 1: Rinse the coix seed and porcine polypore with water, then soak them in cold water for 20 minutes.
  • Step 2: Put the soaked coix seed and porcine polypore together with a small piece of tangerine peel into a pot, add about 500 ml of water (roughly two cups of water).
  • Step 3: Boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and simmer for 15 minutes. After turning off the heat, let it sit for 5 minutes. If you use a thermos, just pour boiling water in and let it steep for 30 minutes to get the flavor.
  • Step 4: Strain out the residue and drink the warm tea. It can be used as daily drinking water, one cup per day, preferably in the morning.

Tip: This tea has a very light taste, with a slight fragrance of tangerine peel and the aroma of coix seed. No need to add sugar, as sweetness may worsen internal dampness. Drink it for three or four consecutive days, then take a break for a couple of days to allow your body to naturally adjust.

Why is it gentle and safe?

Many people think "detoxifying" means sweating a lot or starving. In fact, the body prefers a gentle rhythm. This tea promotes liver metabolism, helps intestinal movement, accelerates lymphatic circulation and glomerular filtration, allowing dampness and heat to gradually leave through urine, stool, and skin. Tangerine peel and porcine polypore strengthen the spleen and stomach, while coix seed doesn't add a cold burden to the body. The whole process is like spring rain, subtly nourishing without notice.

Last words of warmth for you

Adjusting damp-heat isn't something that can be done in a day or two, don't rush. While drinking this tea, try to avoid staying up late, eating greasy and sweet foods, and walk more. Your body will gradually reward you with a lighter and cleaner feeling.
