Introduction
Do you often feel stiff shoulders and tight back? Actually, there's no need to go out or use any equipment. Just practice Tai Chi at home every day, and your body will gradually relax. Today, I'll teach you a simple "Chair Yunshou" exercise. It is gentle, like pushing clouds, and especially suitable for middle-aged and elderly friends.

What This Exercise Can Do For You
It mainly stretches the shoulders, neck, waist, and hips, helping to relieve tension caused by prolonged sitting. With regular practice, joints become more flexible and posture becomes more upright. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, this can help to mobilize the joints, promote blood circulation, and make the energy flow smoothly, bringing mental calmness.
How to Perform the Exercise
First, prepare a stable chair. Sit straight with both feet flat on the ground. Place your hands gently on your thighs, take a deep breath, and slowly exhale. Then start:
- Lift both hands as if hugging a big balloon, move them to the right side of your body, and follow the movement with your eyes.
- Slowly turn your body, moving your hands as if pushing away clouds, drawing a large arc from right to left.
- Move your center of gravity accordingly, let your waist and hips naturally guide your arms without forcing them.
- When reaching the left side, slowly turn back to the right. One cycle consists of left and right movements; do ten times.
Small Reminder
Perform the movements slowly, coordinating with your breathing. Wherever your hands go, your eyes should follow. Imagine it's like moving in water, don't rush. Practice once in the morning and once in the evening, each session taking about three minutes.
What Changes Will Your Body Experience
After practicing for a few days, you will find your shoulders are looser and turning your waist becomes less strenuous. Since Yunshou emphasizes "using the waist as the axis," it can gently massage internal organs and promote blood circulation. Meanwhile, focused movements can help you forget daily worries, achieving a balance between movement and stillness, making your mood more stable.
Summary
Home Tai Chi relaxing exercises are just that simple. A chair, some slow time, and your body and mind will feel relaxed. Follow nature, don't force yourself, and make small progress every day. Your body will surprise you.
